The beginning of the story,,,

I found out I was pregnant in June 2010 and in September I found out that I was having another boy. A few weeks before I found out what I was having I started feeling like I was having another boy so I was not surprised when the ultrasound technician told us he was a boy. The baby was not cooperating a lot during the ultrasound so I was sent to a perinatal specialist to have another ultrasound because they could not see a lot and thought his kidneys were enlarged. I was a bit apprehensive about this appointment because I had not experienced any issues with Brendan or Aiden and I had no idea what to expect. At the perinatal specialist I found out that his kidneys were a bit enlarged so I had to follow up later in the pregnancy. The rest of the pregnancy was pretty uneventful, but very tiring. I was a lot more tired than I was with Brendan or Aiden. In December I was referred to a Urologist and found out we would need to have an ultrasound and a VCUG (catheter test) after he was born to see if there was a problem at the top of the ureters by the kidneys or if it was lower by the bladder. This was a bit scary because the urologist told us that if it was by the bladder it would need to be fixed with surgery. We also found out that he was measuring over 5 and 1/2 pounds in December so they said he would probably be a big baby. By the time January came I was ready to be done. I kept thinking that I would have the little man early, but my doctor kept telling me probably not. I started having some small contractions about 2-3 weeks before I was due to have my c-section, but nothing regular. Then, the morning of January 28th came and I started having contractions that felt a lot more regular. We decided to go to the hospital to check it out. I was scheduled for a c-section on January 31st so it was only a few days before that. Sure enough, I was in labor and already 5 1/2 centimeters dilated when I got to the hospital. It was time for the baby boy to be born so they called my doctor and we got ready for the c-section. Carsten Jeremiah was born at 10:30am and was 8 lbs 14oz and 20 1/2 inches long.

My New Thoughts

I have three kids. My three boys are Aiden, Brendan, and Carsten. My ABC's. They were not born in that order, but yes I am cheesy and once I had Brendan and then Aiden I realized I wanted a C kiddo. I wish that I would have blogged during my first two pregnancies and during the first year (or at least the first few months) of my two oldest boys, but I didn't do that. Well, I am going to start a journal of my most recent pregnancy with my youngest along with the happenings of his life and consequently our families. Why? Well, I want to remember what all has happened and I need a place to write out my thoughts and feelings. I will not be doing it so others can see it, though anyone who wants to read what I write is more than welcome to. Carsten is 6 weeks old and I haven't started this yet, but I will blog about days or weeks (depending on how I feel) during each post. My plan is to start this week. Until the next time...

I'm a sad sad poster! I haven't posted in almost 1 year! Brendan is now 9 and in 4th grade. He likes it and is going good so far. Aiden is 2 1/2 and crazy as ever. They are both busy, active boys. Now, we are adding another kiddo into the family in January. Very unexpected to say the least. We should find out what we are having next week. The boys go back and forth between wanting a brother and wanting a sister. We shall see. I'm working full-time at Integrated. I didn't find a full-time teaching position and figured it would be easier to work at IME instead of trying to substitute. It is less stressful and more stable at the moment. Jeremy and I are trying to get on the right path financially and spiritually. Church for the fall starts soon and I am excited for that.

I'm really bad at posting. It's busy right now. I am working as a substitute teacher and working my part-time job. Brendan got diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder so now he is in occupational therapy once a week. This is going to get expensive. Also, Aiden is getting speech therapy and will be getting occupational therapy soon as well. He isn't talking as much as we would like so he needs that. The OT is for his motor skills. Jeremy and I have joined a bible study on the movie "Fireproof". I am excited about it and hope it will be good for us. Brendan is still in cub scouts and it is a busy time with selling popcorn. I am using my day planner all the time these days so I know where I am supposed to be. Needless to say, it is busy, busy, busy around my house. I'm not getting much else done besides work and appointments with the kiddos. I am not very interesting when I post, so I just talk about what is going on. More later.

Here are a few pictures from the past few months. Brendan got 3rd place at his pinewood derby. Aiden has decided he should play with pots and pans, inside the cupboards. Brendan loves to climb the rock wall. Aiden went to the park for the first time. These are just a select few pictures since January.

Thank you Sara for telling me to update my blog. :) Summer is here. Brendan will be 8 tomorrow! He will be done with school this Friday and then will be in 3rd grade in the fall. I'm very happy about how he has done in 2nd grade and love his teacher. He has made over a year ad a half worth of progress in reading. That is awesome. He still struggles from time to time, but is doing so much better. Aiden is 16 months and saying mama, dada, nana, hi, uh oh, and something that sounds a bit like DD (we think he is trying to say Brendan or something). Aiden also likes to blow kisses, give loves, play peekaboo, and show us his nose, mouth, ears, and feet. He will show us our nose too and hope we gonk it. :) He's been fighting ear infections for the past few weeks. He had tubes a month ago and then happened to get an infection. I hope this doesn't continue. He definitely isn't himself when he is sick. I took him swimming for the first time a few weeks ago. He was very clingy for a while, but then started liking it, especially when he realized he could splash. I hope to have a lot of fun this summer with the boys. Brendan started baseball too, so that should be fun.

My brother is a daddy.  Jackson Logan was born on Friday, February 13th at 7:07am at Boulder Community Hospital.  He was 7lbs 15oz and 20 inches long.  I got to see him on Friday.  He is a cutie.  It's very strange thinking of Chris as a daddy.  I'm excited for him and Adrian.  They will do great.  I can't wait until he is old enough and can play with Aiden.  They are just over a year apart in age so they will have a good time playing.  Speaking of Aiden, he is 1 now.  He went to the doctor and is 23lbs 12oz and 31inches tall.  He is more mobile, so he has lost a little weight, but is doing great.  He is also walking a little bit.  He doesn't take more than 4 or 5 steps most of the time, but he is starting to walk.  He is learning some temper tantrums too.  That should be fun. :) Brendan loves playing with Aiden and was so excited when Aiden walked.  My honey and I had a low key Valentines.  We went to a movie.  We had gift certificates for both the movie and any food at the concession stand so we had dinner and a movie at the theatre. :)  It was fun.  We saw "New in Town".  It was cute.  Even honey liked the little chick flick.  Tonight we are going to my mom and dad's house to celebrate my grandma's birthday (which is tomorrow).  She turns 70 tomorrow.  It should be fun.  

Updates

My car ended up being totaled so I am borrowing my parents' jeep for a while.  My little Aiden turned one on the 22nd.  We were supposed to have his birthday party on Sunday, but he got sick.  He had a fever all weekend.  It went up to 104.4 and we almost went to the ER.  Party has bee delayed until next weekend.  Luckily he won't care.  He can climb up and down the stairs now.  He is still not interested in walking.  No more formula for him; he's on whole milk now.  Woohoo!  Things are getting cheaper, well, for now anyway.
